چکیده

A novel method of projecting interference patterns using acousto-optics has been developed and implemented in the context of the Accordion Fringe Interferometry (AFI) three-dimensional measurement technique developed at MIT Lincoln Laboratory. AFI is an active technique that relies on projecting interference fringes and triangulation to recover range information. AFI is suitable for a wide range of applications, and the solidstate acousto-optic interference fringe projector offers the combination of speed, robustness, and portability that can make AFI a very powerful tool for applications like machine vision, hand-held 3D scanning, high-throughput quality control systems, and motion study and modeling. This work presents the theory of acousto-optic devices and addresses design considerations for an acousto-optic AFI system. Moreover, a prototype is constructed and evaluated, and an algorithm is implemented to reconstruct the 3D surface of an object. The results indicate that an acousto-optic AFI system is practical and has high potential for applications that require high speed and portability from a 3D imaging system. Thesis Supervisor: Lyle G. Design and Implementation of an Intelligent Photogrammetric System for Control and Guidance of Reconstructive Surgery

The digital image contains efficient and useful information which enables measurement and data acquisition. One of the methods that facilitate measuring and interpreting objects, using the image solely, is close-range photogrammetry. Among the various fields of science, whenever a precise measurement is required, this approach can be applied. One of these fields is Medical Sciences that due to ...

Acousto-Optic Tunable Filters Spectrally Modulate Light

The development of opt electronic technology in the past two decades has intensified research on devices that control and manipulate optical radiation. Acousto-optic devices are based on acousto-optic effects in which the optical medium is altered by the presence of ultrasound. Examples of acousto-optic devices include optical modulators, deflectors, scanners, Q-switches, isolators, and frequen...

High-speed focal modulation microscopy using acousto-optical modulators

Focal Modulation Microscopy (FMM) is a single-photon excitation fluorescence microscopy technique which effectively rejects the out-of-focus fluorescence background that arises when imaging deep inside biological tissues. Here, we report on the implementation of FMM in which laser intensity modulation at the focal plane is achieved using acousto-optic modulators (AOM). The modulation speed is g...

Detection of the tagged or untagged photons in acousto-optic imaging of thick highly scattering media by photorefractive adaptive holography We propose an original adaptive wavefront holographic setup based on the photorefractive effect (PR), to make real-time measurements of acousto-optic signals in thick scattering media, with a high flux collection at high rates for breast tumor detection. W...
